Anna Nicole Smith's daughter, Dannielynn Birkhead, 16, had a private guitar lesson with Richie Sambora, the former lead guitarist of Bon Jovi, during the 2023 Kentucky Derby weekend. Dannielynn's father, Larry Birkhead, recorded a video of the lesson, in which Dannielynn played part of Janet Jackson's song "Black Cat" on guitar while Sambora danced and clapped along.

Larry shared the video on Instagram, and praised Sambora for giving Dannielynn confidence-building tips and teaching her the art of playing the guitar. Dannielynn wore a sunflower print dress and a crystal necklace and bracelet belonging to her mother to the Kentucky Derby event. Larry also revealed that the dress was too big to check-in on the plane and had to be driven from Florida.
